KETV: 'We can't let up': Omaha senator on meatpacking plant cases, South Omaha test site shutdown

According to the health department, 1,465 cases out of the county's total of 12,346 cases are meatpacking plant employees. That's almost 12 percent of Douglas County's cases.

"That's enough data to tell us we need to be vigilant. We can't let up on our workers because they're the backbone of our food processing and packing plant process," said Omaha senator Tony Vargas.

Dr. Adi Pour also announced the county's COVID-19 testing site at 50th and G in South Omaha will close down Thursday because of a staffing shortage.

"It is a devastating blow that we don't have a testing site in South Omaha like we've had for the last several months," said Vargas.
